Military dental insurance coverage is very different from family dental insurance or group dental insurance or individual dental insurance. By the very nature of a military engagement or career, your teeth and gums may be at a higher risk of being damaged in combat or in training. Military dental insurance helps protect against the risk of damaging, wear & tear or loss of teeth.
Military dental insurance and military dental coverage is not available to the civilian public. It is only available to active and retired military folks and their families. Since military families are sometimes stationed together outside of the country, military dental coverage usually extends considerable benefits to immediate families of military personnel.
Types of Military Dental Insurance
There are 2 primary types of dental insurance that cover
The Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHB)
Because members 73;of the military are in effect, employees of the federal government, many military personnel are entitled to health and dental benefits under the FEHB. Currently, this program provides benefits for about 7.9 million federally employed Americans. The comprehensive dental coverage offered under this program can be applied to members of the military as well as their families and dependents.
The Department of Defense also runs the try care dental program (TDP), which is administered by United Concordia Companies, Inc. (UCCI)
The Tri Care Dental Program (TDP) dental insurance covers active duty personnel, National Guard, the reserves, and the dependants of these uniformed military personnel. This program is offered globally. Through this program, immediate families who have lost a loved one who was in the military can receive some dental benefits.
It is great that we are blessed with brave young and women that have and
continue to chose to defend our nation and its freedoms and in return we are
glad to report that military dental insurance is a benefit available to
them.
