SurfKitchen Shortlisted for GSMA Global Mobile Awards

SurfKit Mobile Internet Platform Selected as Finalist in Best Service Delivery Platform Category

Reading, UK - January 21, 2009 - SurfKitchen today announced that its Mobile Internet platform has been chosen as a finalist in the Best Service Delivery Platform category of the GSMA Global Mobile Awards 2009. Judged by a panel of independent and respected industry experts, the GSMA Global Mobile Awards are recognised as the most prestigious and respected awards programme in the communications industry.

"Our congratulations go to all the nominees in this year's Global Mobile Awards," said Rob Conway, CEO of the GSMA. "In an uncertain economic climate, mobile communications continue to drive social, economic and technological development, as the caliber of entries this year again illustrates. To have been nominated from such a high quality field of more than 450 companies that entered is a tremendous achievement, and we await the announcement of the winners at the next month's Global Mobile Awards evening in Barcelona with great interest."

The SurfKit Mobile Internet Platform was chosen for its ability to help mobile operators seamlessly introduce innovative and compelling new mobile services that attract new users, drive new revenue streams and maximise revenues from existing services.

"The delivery of mobile Internet and content services is a critical component of the value chain as it defines the user experience," said Michel Quazza, chief executive officer, SurfKitchen. "Working closely with our customers, we have seen first hand how the optimal service delivery can drive data ARPU, but it is always nice to receive industry recognition and we are delighted that the GSMA has selected the SurfKit Mobile Internet platform as one of the industry's outstanding service delivery platforms."

SurfKitchen's Mobile Internet Platform overcomes the discoverability, usability and fulfillment challenges typically associated with the delivery of mobile Internet and content services by delivering a personalized, compelling and highly intuitive user experience on mobile. It provides operators with a sophisticated storefront offering, application launcher and widget runtime environment which truly enhances mobile content/service acquisition and usability across the broadest range of feature and smart phones. The combination of these elements is critical in driving significant mobile data ARPU - and allows operators to build a distinct, branded service delivery experience which increases consumer confidence in finding and using data services.

Part of GSMA's Best Technology Awards, the new Best Service Delivery Platform category is designed to recognise the contribution that middleware and software application developers - as well as a great variety of Value Added Service providers - make to enhancing the service delivery environment and attracting new mobile users. The Global Mobile Awards, now in their 14th year, are organized by the GSMA; a global trade association representing the interests of over 750 GSM mobile phone operators and over 200 manufacturers and suppliers worldwide. The winners of the Technology Awards Category will be announced during a special Mobile World Congress conference session in Barcelona (16-19 February 2009).
